Our Counselors are aware that the decision to parent your child or choose adoption is a life altering one, and can be very difficult for you to make. A good counselor will be there for you to consider your options, explore your emotions and support your choices. A good counselor provides a safe, trusting environment for you to reflect on the possibilities adoption can offer you and your unborn child.

Our Counselors will listen to you and accept your choices. They will, also, share ideas for you to consider regarding an adoption plan. Such as:
~Why choosing adoption may be beneficial to both you and your unborn child.
~How choosing an adoption plan can be the most loving and unselfish decision that you will ever make.
~How due to your present circumstances it may be extremely difficult for you to provide for and raise a child at this time in  your life.
~How choosing an adoption plan may make it possible for you to move ahead and accomplish goals you had planned for yourself.
~When considering your child’s future and the opportunities and experiences that you want for him or her would adoption or parenting be the best choice?
~How important it is to realize that it takes a very strong person to recognize that adoption is the best option for their child.
~That the decision to place your child for adoption is yours, and you are the one who gets to make the final decision.

If you are considering an adoption plan, it will be very helpful for you to surround yourself with people who are supportive of you and the option of adoption. Explaining your reasons for choosing an adoption plan is a way to help others become more knowledgeable about the process and why you are considering such a decision.

It may be hard to believe, but most people do not understand adoption. When people don’t understand someone else’s rationale for making choices, they may be judgmental and hurtful with their responses. It is effective if you share your reality with individuals close to you; which is you are making a decision for you and your baby that is monumental and life long. They need to realize you will involve them in your final decision whether to parent or choose adoption for your child, if and only if they are open to supporting and understanding your reasons.

Our Counselors will assist you in realizing that the adoptive families we have screened are unable to have children of their own, and would be honored to raise your child. The unselfish act of placing your child with another family is an amazing act of love.

Your emotions will ebb and flow during your decision making period. They are unpredictable and could change daily. It is normal to feel sadness, and regret that you are unable to parent your child. However, your focus is to provide your child with a better life which can be accomplished by making an adoption plan.

Many birth mother’s have stated that they begin to feel more comfortable with their adoption choice, after being matched with the right adoptive family. Many birth mother’s state being involved in matching their unborn child with an adoptive family makes them feel more calm and confident that they are doing the right thing.
