DOMESTIC ADOPTION OPTIONS:

AN OPEN ADOPTION WITH FULL DISCLOSURE
This type of adoption will involve birthparents choosing the adoptive family, with the intention of all parties meeting, exchange of names, phone numbers and addresses. There is an expectation that on-going communication will occur between the birth parent/s prior to the placement and after. Future communication and contact will occur directly, and be decided and arranged between the birth and adoptive parents.

A SEMI-OPEN ADOPTION
The birthparent/s will have the option to choose the adoptive family from non-identifying profiles. Both parties may agree to meet. Only first names are exchanged. Updates and pictures, as well as any post-placement visits are arranged through the agency.

CLOSED ADOPTION

The Birth parent/s would request that agency staff match their child with an adoptive family. There would be no meetings between birth and adoptive parents prior to or after the birth of the infant. The Adoptive parents will be given medical and social background information on the child and birth family required by law. In most cases, there would be no post-placement contact. Any contact, such as pictures of the child as he/she grows or letters between parents would be arranged through the agency.

INTERNATIONAL ADOPTION

We at Adoption Journeys are thrilled to be offering Arizona families an opportunity to adopt children from Korea. Our partner agency Family and Children's Agency Inc. has worked collaboratively with the Social Welfare Society, Inc. (SWS) one of the four private child placement agencies in South Korea since 1982. Since then nearly 2,000 children have been placed with families throughout the United States. The adjustment of these children to their families has been outstanding.

Our adoption agency services for Arizona families include pre and post placement adoption services. We provide adoption home studies for prospective adoptive families who wish to adopt internationally through other adoptive placement agencies. We are able to complete Arizona Certifications, in tandem, with Hague Home Study requirements for families who are adopting internationally through a Hague accredited agency, as a supervised provider. For any international adoption the process requires a family to complete a home study evaluation, become pre-approved through USCIS and meet the requirements of the child's country of origin.
