We at Adoption Journeys are thrilled to be offering Arizona families an opportunity to adopt children from Korea. Our partner agency Family and Children's Agency Inc. has worked collaboratively with the Social Welfare Society, Inc. (SWS), one of the four private child placement agencies in South Korea since 1982. Since then nearly 2,000 children have been placed with families throughout the United States. The adjustment of these children to their families has been outstanding.

SWS gives exceptional care to the Korean birth mothers and infants. SWS's professionalism and their social work process and expertise ensures that infants are nurtured by their foster families and receive regular medical attention of the highest quality.

THE PROCESS
1) Home Study - All Arizona residents within Pima, Pinal, Maricopa, Santa Cruz
and Cochise Counties should have their Home Studies completed by Adoption
Journeys.
2) Referrals - Families signing up for Korean adoptions will be advised by Adoption Journeys staff when to begin their homestudy process. The Korean government
has initiated new policies and there is a waiting list for families. The children being referred are be between the ages of 5 to 7 months old.
3) Travel
- After you accept your referral, you can expect to travel for your child in approximately three to four months; however, this timeframe can vary and can be affected by Korean government quotas.
4) Follow-up - Follow-up support for the family will be provided by Adoption Journeys. This consists of three post-placement visits to help with the infant's
adjustment and the finalization of the adoption in the local court.
