KOREA We at Adoption Journeys are thrilled to be offering Arizona families an opportunity to adopt children from Korea. Our partner agency Family and Children's Agency Inc. has worked collaboratively with the Social Welfare Society, Inc. (SWS), one of the four private child placement agencies in South Korea since 1982. Since then nearly 2,000 children have been placed with families throughout the United States. The adjustment of these children to their families has been outstanding. SWS gives exceptional care to the Korean birth mothers and infants SWS's professionalism and the social work process ensure that infants are nurtured in private foster care and receive regular medical attention of the highest quality. Parent Eligibility
Children Available Infant boys and girls will generally be arriving home with their parents between 10-12 months of age. The gender of the infant may not be specified for the first adoption. Special needs children are also available. Timeframe Number of children available each year is set by the Korean government quota. Travel Requirements Travel to Korea to pick up your child.. Special Features of the Program Medical reports from Korea are generally reliable.
Infants are in individual foster care (not orphanages)
while they await adoption. Home Study All Arizona residents within Pima, Pinal, Maricopa, Santa Cruz and Cochise Counties should have their Home Studies completed by Adoption Journeys Referrals Families signing up for Korean adoptions are advised to wait to complete their Home Studies until the Summer of 2008. The Korean government has initiated new policies and there is a waiting list for families. The children being referred will now be between the ages of 5 to 7 months old. After you accept your referral, you can expect to travel for your child in approximately three to four months; however, this timeframe can vary and can be affected by Korean government quotas. Follow-Up Follow-up support for the family will be provided by Adoption Journeys. This consists of three post-placement visits to help with the infant's adjustment and the finalization of the adoption in the local court. |
