What is a Home Study?

One of the first, and most important steps in the adoption process is to complete a home study evaluation. 

Adoption Journeys offers home study services for  families in Arizona adopting through our placement programs, as well as families adopting through other agencies and attorneys.  The purpose of the home study is to demonstrate your suitability to be adoptive parents. 

Adoptions Journeys follows all state and, when applicable, international requirements for home studies.

 Our social workers are  trained and experienced in the unique issues adoptive families face, and  will guide you through the interview process.      

The home study is designed to be a collaborative, educational process in which you will be asked to explore your personal expectations about parenting a child through adoption. 

To complete the study there will be a series of interviews, including at least one that will occur in your home.

Most adoptive families report that this process is very useful as it helps them clarify their thoughts and feelings.
